In 1995 to 2001 Jim was
bankrupt. He was living in a trailer park,
with no savings and $12,000 in debt and had to deliver newspapers to get
by.
In the early 90’s Jim,
like many of us, has a brief stint where he had it all under control making 72k
as a Mortgage Banker. He, again like
many of us, was working for a boss that he couldn’t stand in a job he didn’t
like but very much needed. Now of course
the obvious happens, he gets fired. As a
result, his heart starts to give him problems.
From what we know of his situation, we could logically assume that this
was largely stress related.
Now fast forwarding to
2005, he is a syndicated newspaper columnist.
His column is called The Net Reporter. His articles appear across the country in
newspapers and hundreds of E-zines around the world. Also, author and co-author of seven best selling
E-books, 2 cd rom products, a video, numerous audio tapes, a software package
and newsletter with thousands of subscribers.
Some of his more noteworthy works include, Turn Words into Traffic, designed
to teach someone how to develop their own newsletter and then get it published
on various Internet Marketing sites. The supposed intent is to drive traffic back
to your site.
Another is Lazy
Mans Guide to Online Business; Edwards attempt at teaching people how
to make the most of their time and how to develop profits.
Jim Edwards is a regular
at speaking events pertaining to Internet Marketing. He also teaches you how to make
quality mini sites that are suppose to be highly profitable and effective. I think this one is a winning idea.
Why bother listening to
Edwards? He says that last year he got a
piece of over 8,493 individual sales of information
products online; this does not include the over 1,000 affiliate sales. Edwards states that his total gross was
$439,641. In my opinion, either he is
being really conservative with his numbers or… considering net profits of other
Gurus that are much greener. I think he
probably has made a considerable amount more than he states….or at least I hope. Let’s face it; you have MONTHLY net profits in the 6 figures from most of these top dogs.
As with most of these
successful internet marketers, Jim
has a common approach to marketing. He
himself states that his concepts are not new.
As a matter of fact he borrows a lot of his philosophies from Tony Robbins
who preaches that success starts between the ears, forming different habits
that produce different results.
One thing that has become apparent
is, it does not take long to realize some measure of success with the right
formula. Most of today’s top dogs are
relatively new to the Internet Marketing
scene. Even Jim didn’t really get kicked
off solidly until late 2001. He has had
better years than the last, but making all the money that you possibly can is
not everyone’s driving motivation. Most of the guys after him are doing a
considerable amount better. Not to say
that Edwards is not in the upper echelon of Gurus, because he knows his stuff.
But it just goes to show that there is no definitive methodology. I think what is important is that you develop
the right mindset first and the methodology will come. When the student is ready, the teacher will
appear. If a person is serious minded
about succeeding and has a driving passion to find success, he will. There are many ways to skin a cat, and many
of them work.
If you haven’t thrown your
hat in the ring yet, what are you waiting for? If you like where you are today,
do nothing, and next year this time that’s exactly what you’ll have.
