Speaking as a musician, I will state for the record customer service and selection/variety is paramount. While this is very true with any shopping experience, it is the musician that has the innate fundamental need to sit, hold, feel, play and hear the equipment. Needless to say, a musician that shops and buys online is starting out behind the 8 ball. What then is needed is an online experience that will compensate for this deficiency. When dealing with Zzounds over the phone, the customer service staff gets it. If you are fortunate enough to get a fellow musician on the other end of the line, there is a vibe that speaks to the fact that they understand you need to feel it. My observation is that the customer service has been adjusted to reflect this fact.


When you compare Zzounds to Musicians Friend, you find that they will beat any advertised pricing and shipping. There is no shipping charge for most orders, and where shipping does apply, it is nominal. I had shipping cost applied to approx 50lbs at a rate of $5.96 UPS ground. Any questions can be accommodated by live chat, phone or e-mail. The response time is acceptable. The return policy is acceptable. If there is a point for complaint, I would have to say if you have a special order item, be ready to wait.

I just wanted to write this review because online purchases can be so problematic. However, Zzounds always offers a problem-free experience. I have purchased two guitars and some guitar accessories from their website and they are one of the best around. Good communication and commitment to musicians' unique requirements make it a great online store.

They're great. The only time I don't order from them is when they don't have something I need. Then I have to order from some other site, and it's a huge difference in service quality. The most recent example was a Heil PR20 Dynamic Mic. I need one, and Zzounds doesn't have Heil microphones. So I ordered from Musicians Friend, and they said it was back ordered, and I should wait 2-4 weeks. Well... I waited a few months and finally just canceled my order. I still don't have the Heil PR20 (white finish). I am confident in Zzounds. The only problem area is the variety here and there.

Great buy. I love your price matching, no sales tax (except in NJ), and free shipping! I was a little confused about the tracking section though because it said my order had been shipped and there was no tracking number. Then the next day it said it had not been shipped and it was still in the approval phase. Finally it said it had been shipped (again) and this time there was a tracking number.
